The Foundation of Good Health is Nutrition
Our body has a great inborn capacity to heal itself, to repair & regenerate. Just think, if you cut yourself, an immune response is triggered to send out a ‘response team’ to heal the cut, or if you catch a cold, again an ‘immune team’ is sent out to fight off the virus. How amazing is that, our body just does what it needs to do! But, for our body to be able to do its work, it needs the right environment & the right amount of nutrients from a variety of food sources.
Nutrition is a key factor that contributes to setting up the right internal environment of our body.

Nutritious food - are full of nourishment, they provide enough nutrients that our body needs to survive and thrive, protecting us from many chronic diseases such as, cardiovascular, diabetes, strokes, colorectal cancers and many more. They help repair, replenish, restore, rejuvenate, and sustain us to live our lives. They also, have the capacity to act as detoxifying, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory agents within the body.
We have an abundant list of food items that are healthy food options and most of us are aware of them; Eating seasonal vegetables and fruits, lean quality animal protein & vegetable protein, good fats, complex carbohydrates as well as staying hydrated, all support our bodies to function well.
BUT…. are the healthy foods you're eating right for your body?
What does this mean?
In the world of social media & information overload, the messages we receive about what we should and shouldn't eat can be very conflicting. For every expert that tells you that certain foods are good for you & we should all eat them! there is another expert telling you the opposite. So much confusion!!
Let’s keep it simple.
As I mentioned, our body naturally knows how to heal itself and it also knows what foods it likes and doesn't like, i.e. what foods are right for it.

Choosing the right healthy foods for your body (bio-individuality*) are the foods that your gut likes. The foods that don’t irritate your gut, cause inflammation, bloating, discomfort, irritation, skin rashes, mood swings, indigestion, nausea and fatigue. These are some of the signals that your body gives you to let you know that what you just ate, it doesn’t like, its struggling to digest, or it has sensitivities towards it. Our job is to pay attention to these signals if they appear, and try and link them to the foods we ate.
Let me give you an example, apples are a well known healthy food item, for me, apples make me bloat, and feel sick. So, I avoid apples, my body prefers pears. Or dates, nutrient dense and energy rich, great snack option especially before a high energy workout, but they leave me depleted of energy & fatigued. I avoid them.
So if you're struggling with your weight, feeling bloated, fatigued and tired after eating a meal or snack, perhaps its time to pay attention to the signals your body is giving you and eat the right foods for your body.
*bio-individuality is the understanding that every body is unique, there is no one fits all approach to anything, including diet, what works for one person won't necessarily work for another.
